I discovered this article about hard work by Zigler that resonated with me and I had to share it with you.

His name is Jeff Hostetler and he was the quarterback for the New York Giants and later the Oakland Raiders.  The route he took to reach that position is fascinating.  The first four years he was in the National Football League, he threw only 68 passes in regular season games.  Going into the end of the seventh season, he had thrown fewer than 200 passes.  He played with the New York Giants and Phil Simms was the starting quarterback.  Toward the end of that season Phil Simms went down with an injury and Coach Bill Parcels looked to the bench and said, "O.k., Jeff, it's your turn."  Jeff Hostetler put his helmet on, ran into the game and led his team to victory.  He led them through the playoffs into the Super Bowl and the New York Giants became World's Champions.  
Question: Suppose, when the coach said, "It's your turn, Jeff," Jeff had responded, "Just a minute, Coach, I've got to get ready"?  Fortunately, Jeff had spent all of his athletic life "getting ready."  He remained in superb athletic condition during the off-seasons.  He attended every training camp and team meeting.  He was supportive of his coach and team.  He lifted tons of weights, ran hundreds of wind-sprints, threw thousands of balls at moving targets, and studied the offense and defense of every team in the league so when the call came, Jeff was ready.  Later, he was picked up as a free agent, signed to a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract, and was the star quarterback for the Oakland Raiders.
If your coach were to say to you, "It's your turn," would you be ready to take the next step up in your team or would you have to say, "Wait a minute, I'm not ready"?  I encourage you to prepare for your future.  Your move up - just like that of Jeff Hostetler - is going to be determined by your readiness for the task.
